From singing in local concert Live N Loud, to heading Taree High SRC's environmental committee; she is committed to her community.
These contributions, amongst other achievements, have been recognised by her appointment to the NSW Youth Week Young People's Advisory Committee.
Receiving the call from member for Myall lakes Stephen Bromhead, McLeod was "surprised and thrilled" to be selected for the advisory committee that will run NSW Youth Week from April 10 to 19, 2015. Mr Bromhead said Youth Week was an annual celebration of youth, organised by young people for young people, in communities across NSW and Australia.
One of the pre-requisites in applying for the committee, was participation in your local area's Youth Week. At this year's event, Caitlin helped organise a forum with local identities and high school students, that discussed prevalent issues in the area.
As part of her new role, Caitlin was flown to Sydney for the committee's first meeting. As one of 13 representatives, Caitlin met committee members living as far as Tweed Heads, and as young as 14.
The committee's responsibilities include making key decisions such as organising merchandise and deciding on the promotional poster.
They will also be running the Youth Week opening event held at Parliament House in Sydney. This event will be a forum with young people from around the State.
Following this, the committee members will return to their local Youth Week to help run the activities.
In the meeting, Caitlin enjoyed hearing other committee members' ideas and activities. She is looking forward to implementing some of these ideas in the local community's Youth Week for 2015.
Next year, Caitlin will go to university. She would like to study either medicine or science, in hope of being a science journalist.
