Reid, 15, gained a place in the side following trials held at Coffs Harbour between Mid North Coast, North Coast and Far North Coast.
A leg spin bowler, Reid managed to mix his twin sporting passions of cricket and golf while attending the trials.
“We played (golf) at Bonville on Friday and then on Saturday morning at Coffs Harbour before I went to the trials,’’ he said.
He had a par round of 71 off the stick at Coffs - his best score on the course to be the overall winner on the day.
“I got a voucher to spend at the pro shop,’’ he said.
Reid is the reigning club champion at Wingham and the youngest in the club’s history. He was going to forgo cricket this season to concentrate on golf, but opted to have a run with United, where his elder sister, Maitlan, plays first grade.
