Cr Hogan said the position was advertised broadly and attracted a diverse and competitive field of candidates.
"We had candidates from a wide range of backgrounds and found Ron demonstrated a greater scope and depth of experience, knowledge and skills in the various facets required for the position," Cr Hogan said.
According to Cr Hogan the selection process was undertaken by a five-member selection panel nominated by the councillors and focused on finding a dynamic, customer-focused and results driven general manager to lead the organisation through this next phase of change facing local government.
"Ron has broad employment experience across local, state and federal government, and has held the position of executive leader service delivery at council since 2010.
"Before commencing with council, he held senior executive positions in Lake Macquarie near Newcastle, Pine Rivers in Brisbane and Scenic Rim in the Gold Coast hinterland. His experience in local government is diverse and he also has a wealth of experience across the interactions of the three tiers of government."
