The church ha sent 60 Christmas hamper/pamper packs to drought affected communities in western NSW.
Items in the hampers have been donated by the Chatham Uniting Church congregation, and include toilet paper, tissues, soap, hand lotion, razors, short bread biscuits and tins of food.
Volunteer Helen Russell helped to co-ordinate the fundraising efforts and said the hamper packs were taken by two of congregation members, Bruce and Ruth Martin, in their motor home and delivered to Cobar to Reverend Joanne Smalbil.
“It’s part of our mission to support the drought affected families in far western NSW,” Helen explained.
Helen said it was a wonderful fundraising activity for the church to be involved with, one which provided everyday items for those doing it tough in the country.
“You know it’s going to the right place, the drought affected places, and because we’ve done it once before in April they’ve thanked us and they really appreciate it,” she said.
