Police are appealing for possible witnesses to come forward following an alleged assault near Wallabi Point
Police were called to Saltwater National Park shortly before 11am Thursday after reports a woman had been assaulted.
Police launched an investigation a short time later and established a crime scene at the location.
A woman, of unknown age, was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance Paramedics, before being taken to Manning Hospital.
Local officers, with assistance from the Dog Unit and PolAir are conducting extensive searches of the surrounding area.
Investigators are continuing their inquiries and are appealing for anyone with information that could assist them to come forward.
In particular, anyone who may have been near Saltwater Reserve on Saltwater Road at Wallabi Point around 10.30am on Thursday, is urged to contact Taree Police Station on (02) 6552 0399 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
