Mrs Audet has been nominated for the Honour Roll of this year's Hidden Treasures program, which acknowledges the important volunteer roles women play within NSW rural communities.
She has played an integral part to the Manning Valley arts scene over the years and was nominated by the Manning Entertainment Centre for her valuable contributions.
Mrs Audet has been recognised as a life member for her many years as co-ordinator of the vocal and choral sections for the Taree and District Eisteddfod.
She was a keen advocate for building the Manning Entertainment Centre and since it was built in 1988, she has contributed more than 10,000 volunteer hours.
For several years she co-ordinated the volunteer roster, a task requiring countless hours on the telephone and a high degree of skill and charm to ensure performances were well staffed.
Greater Taree City Council mayor Paul Hogan said Val had made a tremendous contribution to the arts community.
"Val has always provided tireless support to those who needed assistance," he said.
"Taree locals know what a difference Val has made to performers and choristers, and of her excellent work as a volunteer at the Manning Entertainment Centre.
"She has also made a significant contribution as musical director of the Manning Valley Choral Society and is committed to the cultural life of Taree.
"She was instrumental in the Taree Arts Council as musical director and as a vocal coach.
"We hope that her story encourages others to take on volunteering roles.
"On behalf of council and the community, we congratulate Valerie Audet for being listed in the 2014 honour roll."
Mrs Audet said it was an honour to be recognised for her life passion.
"I've always loved being a part of the entertainment centre and I've been in music groups all my life," she said.
"And I gave my time volunteering because of my love of music, I love being with musical people and being in the middle of it,
"I started singing at the age of nine and I haven't stopped since."
