The students will be taking part in the agricultural competitions during the next two days at Taree Showgrounds.
Lukis Tisdell will be leading during today's Junior Heifer Show and tomorrow's Beef Cattle parade.
The year nine student from Mt George has been working with his steer George for three hours a week in the lead up to this year's competition.
"I've just been brushing him with a curry comb and washing him, and just been walking him around to prepare," he said.
Lukis has competed at other parading shows since he started leading this year, with top-three placings at Wingham Beef Week and Nabiac, but this will be his first Taree Show.
Fellow Chatham High School agriculture student Tenille Jackson will also be competing at the Taree Show and will be judging the RAS finals.
"I'm judging the cattle for them to get into the Royal Easter Show," she said.
"I look for good structure, productivity and whether they have a good carcass."
The year 11 student said she loved the responsibility of judging.
"I enjoy it because of the confidence of being able to speak in front of people, and the confidence to choose the cattle the industry wants," she said.
"And it's good because of the contacts you make in the industry."
