Border passed through Taree as part of his walk from Sydney to Brisbane to raise money for charity. He walked from Forster-Tuncurry to Taree where he had to defy 40 degree heat.
“It was pretty hot yesterday but we made it,’’ Border told the big crowd that turned out to see him at Taree Continental Cars. An auction of an encased cricket bat autographed by Border realised $2000, with Alan Tickle the successful bidder. Taree Lions Club made a further donation to the fund that will support several childrens’ charities.
The Times was there to photograph Border and his support crew.
