The Manning Valley boasts 45km of pristine coastline to explore, with a dozen beaches open along the Manning Valley Coast.
Popular beaches include Crowdy Bay and the Crowdy back beach down to Harrington as well as the series of beaches at Hallidays Point.
Greater Taree City Council mayor Paul Hogan said the change of seasons was the perfect time to visit the many beaches which line the Manning Valley coastline.
"There are so many beaches to choose from up and down our beautiful Manning Valley Coast, and I know we all look forward to getting out there with our warmer spring weather," he said.
Beaches at Manning Point, Old Bar, Wallabi Point and Saltwater Beach are temporarily closed, waiting assessment after recent erosion.
Mayor Hogan said the closures gave residents a chance to experience the other beaches of the region.
"While the beaches near Old Bar are being assessed, it's a great time to explore one of the many other beaches," he said.
"It's great that our beach permits are valid for beaches in both the Great Lakes and Greater Taree council areas."
Hallidays Point is situated at the southern end of the Manning Valley and has many excellent beaches to explore, with many great walks through cooling littoral rainforest along the coast.
Black Head beach is patrolled in summer and is considered one of the Manning's best swimming beaches featuring an ocean pool, excellent fishing, picnic and barbecue areas under shady Norfolk Island Pines.
The local rainforest walk encompasses striking coastal landforms across two headlands, with lookouts for those panorama shots at both Black Head and Red Head.
Harrington Beach State Park stretches from Harrington to the picturesque village of Crowdy Head, and features a privately run Big 4 caravan park, lighthouse and boat harbour.
The state park is a fisherman's paradise with plenty of opportunities to pull in a great catch, and also contains stunning surf beaches and panoramic views from Crowdy Head lighthouse and Pilot Hill at Harrington.
The main beach at Crowdy Bay stretches 15km up to Diamond Head and is the longest beach on the Manning Valley Coast.
All but the southern 3km of the beach lie within the Crowdy Head National Park, providing protection for the beach and is the perfect spot for families with great views of the mountains and bay.
