On Sunday, August 24 police received a report that an elderly man had been approaching girls for sexual activity within the Taree CBD.
Detectives from Manning/Great Lakes Local Area Command have been investigating the alleged incidents and have spoken to five girls, aged 12 to 15.
Following inquiries, a 90-year-old man was arrested at a retirement village in Taree about 5pm, Friday.
He was charged with four counts of procuring child under 16 for unlawful sexual activity, and one count of procuring child under 14 for unlawful sexual activity.
The man was given conditional bail to appear at Taree Local Court on October 14.
