Hallidays Point Public School students Halle Ford and her friend Jacob Cain got into the spirit of fundraising on Wednesday.

The dynamic duo helped to raise money for the Kids with Cancer Foundation Australia by selling cupcakes at their school, with all funds going towards young cancer patients and the hospitals which help care for them.

Halle was inspired to set up the cake stall after the recent loss of a family member.

"My great-uncle passed away about two months ago, and he was the first person in the family to be affected by cancer," she said.

"I wanted to do something, and being a kid I chose to help raise money for the Kids with Cancer Foundation Australia,

"My great-uncle inspired me and Jacob to set up the stall, and I'm school captain and Jacob is vice captain so we wanted to leave our mark on the school."

The cake stall raised $563.55 for the foundation and the pair will be holding a second fundraiser at their school on November 13.

Hallidays Point Public School principal Peter Johnson praised the fundraising efforts of his two Year 6 students.

"I think it's wonderful and they've shown great initiative," he said.

"They approached our P and C with the idea and they've shown a lot of leadership as they're also two of our school leaders.

"Both of their families have been touched by cancer, and they'll be holding a second fundraiser later in the year."

The Kids with Cancer Foundation Australia is a non profit organisation which has donated over $16.6 million to numerous hospitals and families.
