Operation Commander, Superintendent Paul Fehon said the search operation had expanded.
“We are appealing for anyone who saw any people or vehicles in the vicinity of Benaroon Drive or in the Kendall township on Friday to contact police,” Superintendent Fehon said. “We are not ruling out any possibilities, investigators are exploring every possible avenue of inquiry.
“Search teams are going back over all areas, including dams and waterways, today.
“There are hundreds of people on the ground who are searching for William, as well as resources on land and in the air, on horseback, trail bikes and 4WD and we still haven’t found him yet
“As a consequence we are making this appeal for any information from the public."
TUESDAY, 9.15am: IN an ominous sign, the investigation into William Tyrell's disappearance has been given more resources, as the search for the missing three-year-old enters its fifth day.
Superintendent Paul Fehon said police are now very fearful for William's survival, and pleaded with the public for information on those in the area when the little boy disappeared from a house in Benaroon Drive, Kendall, on Friday morning
"If anyone out there knows of anyone in the Kendall area at that time, or has any information that might assist us, we ask them get in contact," he said.
Superintendent Fehon would not confirm if the investigation took greater priority than the search.
"Our priority is William's survival," he said.
Strike Force Rossann was established to investigate the disappearance and is based at Port Macquarie. It comprises investigators from Mid North Coast and Manning Great Lakes local area commands as well as personnel from State Crime Command and Forensic Services Group.
Specially trained investigators from the State Crime Command experienced in the unexplained disappearances of young children are providing support to the many other police, emergency services workers and members of the public involved in the search for William.
The search will today still include police and State Emergency Services personnel from the Hunter region, as well as other volunteers from as far north as Lismore.
Volunteers are still needed, and can arrive at the Kendall Showground on Batar Creek Road at any time today.
You will need to register with emergency services before joining the search.
Police ask that anyone considering volunteering to bring water, sufficient food for the day, sturdy walking shoes and sun protection.
