Sale and open gardens aid Manning Neighbourhood Services

September 1 2014 - 4:20pm

MANNING Valley Neighbourhood Services will be holding its annual Car Boot Sale and Open Gardens Day later this month.
The event is a fundraiser for the Wingham-based charity organisation with all money raised going towards the organisation's community garden and community kitchen.
The car boot sale and open gardens day will be held on Saturday, September 27 at the Old Courthouse Community Centre at Wingham from 8am to 1pm.
A barbecue breakfast and pancakes will be provided from 8am, with slices and biscuits also on sale.
Garden workshops will be held as well as seedling and plant sales, and a raffle will be held.
Admission is free with buskers and musicians most welcome, with a monster book stall set to keep any avid reader happy.
Anyone wishing to sell items on the day will have to pay $10 to pre-book their site.
Manning Valley Neighbourhood Services volunteer Gillian Stone said the day will help raise money for a vital community organisation and the community garden it provides.
"The Manning Valley Neighbourhood Services provides a range of programs and services to communities of the Manning Valley," she said.
The community garden is currently resourced by volunteers and all funds received go back into the garden and its programs.
"We are holding this fundraising event as funds are needed to support and resource the fundamental elements of the garden, the volunteers and associated activities to ensure that it continues to grow as a community resource."
For further information about the day, contact Manning Valley Neighbourhood Services manager Caron Watkins on 6553 5121.
