With a strong nor-easter at their backs on a brickyard hard ground the Clams’ Mid North Coast representative Teia Ambrosoli stole an early tight head and Chris Tout weaved along the wing for a splendid try in the first nine minutes, Phil Wilkins reported in the Manning River Times.
“It was not the last the Dolphins saw of Tout, the outstanding player on the field, with hooker Ambrosoli not far behind him,’’ Wilkins added.
By the 53rd minute Old Bar had opened a 29-0 lead but the Dolphins replied with four tries to narrow the gap.
“But the Clams were the better team on the day,’’ Wilkins agreed.
“It was a great game and they were great opponents,’’ Old Bar captain-coach Darren Drury said after the match.
Karl Byrne was on hand to take photos for the Times.
