Hearing impaired residents of the Manning Valley are being asked to search for their old hearing aids and to donate them to Quota during August.
The request forms part of Quota's promotion and support of National Hearing Awareness Week during the last week of August.
According to Quota Club of Taree spokeswoman, Jeanette Holland, the hearing aids will be collected and refurbished to assist hearing impaired people in Fiji.
"So don't leave them in your bottom drawer, drop them into one of the collection boxes," Mrs Holland said.
The Quota Club of Taree collects the hearing aids as part of a national campaign to support Quota International of Ba, which is in Fiji. The hearing aid initiative began in 2002 and forms part of a project to provide local seniors with transportation to hearing clinics, audiogram services and hearing aid fittings. Quota is known for its work to assist women and children and in particular, individuals who are deaf, hearing impaired and speech impaired.
The collection boxes are located at four sites in Taree: the Guardian Pharmacy in Manning Mall, Priceline Pharmacy in Victoria Street, National Hearing in Victoria Street and Chatham Pharmacy in Chatham.
Mrs Holland added that collection can be arranged if you are unable to visit one of the four collection box locations. For further information please contact Mrs Holland on 6551 0910 or 0403 995.
