NEW payments to Kempsey, Port Macquarie-Hastings, Greater Taree and Gloucester councils are being made under the Australian Government's Financial Assistance Grants program.

Federal member for Lyne Dr David Gillespie said the Federal Government is providing $2.3 billion to councils nationwide in 2014-15, including $715.7 million to NSW councils.
Councils in the Lyne electorate will receive a total of $24,185,541 this financial year. Kempsey Council will receive $5,622,979, Port Macquarie-Hastings Council $8,891,965, Greater Taree City Council $7,451,364 and Gloucester Shire Council $2,219,233 this financial year and is in addition to Federal funding allocated under the Coalition Government's Community Development Grants and Roads to Recovery programs.
The four councils in Lyne will also share in over $3.4-million in Roads to Recovery funding when legislation locking in a further five years in funding is passed by the Senate.
This year, the Abbott-Truss Government has also allocated an additional $10 million to Greater Taree City Council to fix local roads and bridges as part of a Coalition election commitment to improve infrastructure. Funding of $2.7 million has also been made available through the Coalition's new Community Development Grants program to redevelop Port Macquarie's Indoor Stadium and the first tranche of the Coalition's $17 million funding commitment to upgrade the Bucketts Way in the Gloucester and Greater Taree areas was included in this year's Budget.
"We will deliver a further $9.3 billion to local governments from 2014-15 to 2018-19 through the Financial Assistant Grants program to deliver services and build community infrastructure.
"Councils are free to spend this untied grant funding according to local priorities, including for infrastructure, health, recreation, environment, employment and roads projects.
"The first quarterly payment for 2014-15 has been made."
