ONE confirmed sale and numerous quotes requested, has signalled another successful Sydney International Boat Show for leading boat manufacturer, Steber International.

During the five-day event, planning also began to exhibit at next year's Shanghai Boat Show.

Managing director, Alan Steber said he was also delighted to see the Steber-built Marine Rescue 38, based at Middle Harbour Yacht Club, on display and open to the public.

"The vessel remains in as-new condition after completing 1500 engine hours in just over two years", Mr Steber said.

Steber's scale model display covered a range of commercial and recreational vessels from 28 to 60ft, as well as the unmanned surface vessel, the SSS Bluebottle.

"During the show we took time to talk with existing Steber clients, including various government departments, and were delighted to show off the new 38ft SLR (Super Long Rescue) and SS (Super Sports) models.

"The model boats were acknowledged by many as a 'smart move' in helping open up conversations regarding customising options for potential customers.

"We have a great reputation in the marine industry and customers have confidence in talking to us, even though we are not standing on a full-size vessel", Mr Steber said.

NSW Deputy Premier, Andrew Stoner and minister for Roads and Maritime, Duncan Gay visited the Steber stand for lengthy discussions on potential industry improvements.

Alan's opinions and advice are always respected, being a founding member and current board member of the BIA (Boating Industry Association), board member and Export Champion of AIMEX (Australian International Marine Export Group) and recognised as an industry stalwart, receiving the Centenary Medal in 2001 for services to the marine industry.

Also during the show Alan met with Jessica Toh and Tim Stanford from The Media Shop Group based out of Singapore to start preparing a marketing strategy to enter the China and South East Asia markets. This will include exhibiting at the 2015 Shanghai Boat Show in conjunction with Chinese distributor, Harry Wong from V Yachts.

Initial discussions were also held with a potential Fijian distributor, particularly interested in the Steber commercial range.

During what turned out to be a hectic week at the Sydney show, Alan also took time out to meet around-the-world sailor, Jessica Watson; along with Lisa Blair, who next year aims to be the first woman to circumnavigate Antarctica, and Andrew Abrahams, who recently rowed across the Atlantic.
