The work involved upgrading a 2.4km length of Seal Rocks Road with significant improvements to the road width, alignment and surfacing.
"The road was previously a narrow gravel road on a poor alignment," said Greg Pitt, council's acting director of engineering services.
"Due to high traffic volumes, particularly during holiday periods, the gravel section of Seal Rocks Road required regular maintenance grading and gravel resheeting at significant cost to Council each year," Mr Pitt said.
"This regular gravel road maintenance work is no longer required," Mr Pitt said.
"Works were completed this week with the bitumen sealing of the final stage of the work," said council's operations manager, Robert Fish.
"The work was completed in a quick timeframe ahead of program, a credit to all involved," Mr Fish said.
Bitumen sealing of Seal Rocks Road has occurred progressively over many years when funding under council's Rural Road Construction Program has become available.
"The recent work was undertaken through council's Rural Road Construction program with funding provided from the Federal Government's Roads to Recovery Program and council" said Mr Pitt.
"Now that the full length of Seal Rocks Road is bitumen sealed road safety and access to Seal Rocks is substantially improved," Mr Pitt said.
