Protocol insists that the outcome is recorded first, and so let it be said that perennial Hawthorn outlasted all that Sydney's Lance Franklin, Kurt Tippett and Adam Goodes threw at it, and a 22-point disadvantage mid-way through the third quarter, and goal that even the kicker, Ben McGlynn, thought should have been disallowed, and prevailed by 10 points in the match of the season to date.
