Restrained and over-racing badly off a slow speed last start, Sheer Style will wear the shades for the first time in a San Domenico audition at Randwick on Saturday.

"Her bloods were all out of whack on Monday when we took them so it gives her a genuine excuse [after last start]," Frazer said of the one-time Magic Millions favourite.

"Her bloods are back to normal and I've put blinkers on her actually. Normally you wouldn't do that as it might fire them up, but it's seemed to have the opposite effect on her. We'll try it and see.

"We'll also let her get into her normal pattern instead of trying to hold her up a bit."

Tim Clark will take over from three kilogram-claiming apprentice Claire Nutman, who was chastised by stewards after piloting Sheer Style last start for using her mobile phone in the jockeys' room to seek outside reassurance over her ride.

While Frazer remains reluctant to lock Sheer Style into a San Domenico start, he had no doubt his filly could catch some of her first-up rivals on the hop if she tackled the group 3 scamper after racing through winter.

"I have no doubt when she's at her best [she could win a race like that]," Frazer said.

There's no Delectation to contend with in the opener on a lacklustre Kensington card on Saturday, but Chris Waller has thrown a wildcard into the mix with high-priced yearling Amicus.

The highly-spruiked Inkling was a drifting $1.95 favourite with Ladbrokes on Friday as Amicus ($4), debutant Sir Barb ($6.50) and Sheer Style ($7) jockeyed for second pick.

Frazer's tinkering with Sheer Style's gear contrasts his approach to stable veteran Hurrara, which has had the work poured into him in preparation for the feature July Sprint.

Hurrara tired late to finish well down the track behind Casual Choice and Cradle Me at Rosehill three weeks ago, but will scrape in under the limit for the July Sprint after Nutman's claim. She's one of five apprentices engaged in the eight-horse field.

"He had a huge blow [last start] as he hadn't raced for a month so he'll go into Saturday a lot fitter," Frazer said. "And I think I might have been a bit too easy on him last start.

"I think the horse is right in the race, he's a bit fitter and he's going very well."

Frazer will also saddle up Taree's Wingham Cup winner Scottish Border in the fourth.

"I thought his last three runs have been full of merit, he won the Wingham Cup and carried 60 [kilograms] in the Port Macquarie Cup and the winner carried 51, and last start around Canterbury he had 60 and the winner had 52," Frazer said.

"He had to come from a long way back and I think he's in the race with a good weight with Sam Clipperton riding him."
