Throwback Thursday - 2003 NSW State of Origin team land at Taree

Thursday July 10 2003: TAREE'S Danny Buderus landed at Taree Airport with the other members on the NSW State of Origin rugby league team en-route to Forster-Tuncurry.

The Blues were in the area as part of a Channel 9 promotion run on The Footy Show. Forster-Tuncurry earned the right to host NSW in a 'That's My Town' campaign.

The players stayed in Taree briefly before heading to the Great Lakes.

Huge crowds turned out at the Harry Elliott Oval at Tuncurry to watch the side train under coach Phil Gould as they prepared for the upcoming clash against Queensland. Club Forster turned into a TV studio that evening when Paul Vautin and co hosted The Footy Show.

Scott Calvin was at Taree and Tuncurry to take photos for the Times.
