The drainage works will be done by a Greater Taree City Council contractor and will take about six weeks.
Works are planned to be undertaken between 7am and 5pm from Monday to Friday, however some work on Saturdays may be required.
Initially, Pulteney Street will be closed to through traffic to allow for the significant excavation work to be undertaken to replace the pipes.
Council anticipates one lane in Pulteney Street will be opened at the end of July to allow for through traffic while the remainder of the work is completed.
Council will keep businesses and the community updated as the project progresses.
