THIRTY four teams will contest the State under 15 girls hockey championships to be contested in Taree this weekend.

Manning will be represented in divisions two and three. There'll be no hockey played in the Manning competition this weekend because of the championships.

North Coast will attempt to win the region's first Country Rugby League championship in Tamworth on Saturday in the final against Greater Southern. The match kicks off at 1.10pm.

Phil Trembath from Port Macquarie is the North Coast coach.

In Group Three Rugby League three matches will be played on Sunday. Competition hot shots Macleay Valley make the trip to Old Bar to play the Pirates while Wingham travels to Port Macquarie to tackle the Sharks. Wauchope will be at home to Port City.

The Forster-Tuncurry/Taree City game at the Jack Neal Oval has been postponed until Saturday July 5.

Taree Wildcats and Old Bar Barbarians meet in a game vital to both teams' Football Mid North Coast Premier League semi-final aspirations at Omaru Park on Saturday.

Wingham, badly in need of a win, take on Port Saints at Port Macquarie. Competition leader Wallis Lake and second placed Port United clash, Kempsey Saints meet Camden Haven and Macleay Valley and Port FC clash in other fixtures.

There's a general bye in the Lower North Coast Rugby.

Taree Basketball's junior representative teams travel to Lismore for the final round of the Northern NSW League. The finals will be at Grafton the weekend of July 12 and 13. Semi-finals of Taree's domestic competitions start next Tuesday.

Taree Touch's popular mixed competition enters the semi-final phase on Monday evening at Taree Recreation Centre.

Taree Greyhound Club will host a 12 event card on Saturday afternoon from 12.35.

At the time of writing Wingham Bowling Club was still waiting word on whether their number five pennant side had qualified for the State playoffs in August. Wingham finished runner up to Greta Workers in the Six final but Greta has since been disqualified for fielding two ineligible players. Greta has appealed to the NSW Bowling Association board and as yet no decision has been announced.
