GEORGE Hoad's Winchelsea Gardens will host an open day on Sunday, June 29, titled 'Art in the Garden' and showcasing works of 'garden art' by well known local artists.

The works of art to be exhibited display a great diversity of styles and materials including welded metal, carved wood, fired pottery and colourful mosaics.
"I requested pieces especially designed for the garden or works that sit comfortably in an all weather outdoor setting and I have been thrilled by the response," George said.
"More than a dozen artists will be displaying works on the day including Mike Kolbe, Russell Saunders, Francessca O'Donnell, as well as by members of the NSW Floral Art Association, who will be creating a special 'Land Art' display."
George's six acre country garden is the perfect setting to host this event, given the size and quirky nature of the garden.
Visitors can wander and enjoy the works of art on display, as well as George's lovely country garden. The garden has been loosely designed to take advantage of the beautiful natural setting of the Killabakh Valley, with the layout influenced by George's love of English garden style and design. Inspired by trips overseas and his theatrical background, the garden features a series of rooms or distinct areas such as the oriental garden, the Islamic-inspired pool garden, the potager, the cottage garden, the woodland walk, and much more.
Winchelsea Gardens was recently featured on Better Homes and Gardens TV show and in their magazine.
'Art in the Garden' is the closing event of the Manning Winter Festival, a biennial arts festival, June 14 to 29, celebrating the creativity and showcasing artistic talent from across the Manning Valley.
Artwork featured in the garden will be for sale, with a number of stalls also selling 'garden art', ornaments, plants, bric-a-brac, and more.
Lunches and George's mother's delicious Devonshire teas will be available.
All proceeds from the day will be donated to Ronald McDonald House Newcastle, a charity which provides comfort, care and accommodation to seriously ill or injured children and their families from the across the Mid North Coast.
Winchelsea Gardens is located at 52 Alfred Road, Killabakh, 18km from Wingham on the Comboyne Road. Open from 10am to 5pm, admission $5, with children free. A large parking area has recently been added with direct access to the garden.
