The orchestra is dedicating the entire June series, Winter Magic - a Musical Tribute in recognition of honorary conductor James Hannah who, after eight years with Sinfonia's baton, has announced his retirement.
At 81 years of age, James's retirement follows the June concert series giving opportunity for the orchestra to demonstrate their skill and to applaud the musical abilities, drive and energy of James that has proven invaluable to the ongoing development of the orchestra and not least to its individual players.
The audiences from within the regional communities in which Sinfonia serves are recognising that Sinfonia has become a leading example of just what local musicians along with the dedication and drive of other skilled volunteers can achieve together in locally delivering professional performances.
As orchestra team leader, James continues to focus on encouraging his many volunteer musicians aged 15 to 91 to reach their full performance potential so be sure you get your tickets and join the audience in celebrating his final performances, one of which officially opens the 2014 Manning Winter Festival on Saturday, June 14.
Winter Magic - a Musical Tribute will be held at St John's Anglican Church at 2pm on June 14.
As a very special treat in opening the 2014 Manning Winter Festival, guest cellist Michael Bardon has agreed to vary his very full schedule and be with the orchestra to perform with them on that day only.
