MEMBER for Myall Lakes Stephen Bromhead responded to statements made at the extraordinary meeting of Greater Taree City Council on Wednesday evening (June 4).
"I acknowledge that the request for funding was $7.5 million, which I fully supported,” he said.
"I fully support the project, council's request was for $7.5 million and $15 million from the federal government. The federal funding that was promised was contingent on receiving State support.
"To obtain State support council needed to put in an application and provide evidence of the linked projects," he continued.
"Council spoke of 500-600 jobs being created. When the evidence supplied by council was analysed by the Department of Trade and Investment I understand the business case analysis only showed 150 – 170 jobs."
