The 12-year-old is one of four players named in the team. She was selected following the NSW Combined High School Championship/NSW under 15 Jack Newton Shield held at Blackheath where she won the under 15 girls' net.
She is the Manning River Times-Iguana Sportstar of the Week, earning a $50 open order at Iguana.
The tournament at Black Head was for All Schools years 7 to 9 and was played over 36 holes. Pyper received an exemption to play as she had earlier been recovering from a broken arm. However, the injury didn't worry her while she was playing.
The team will be in New Zealand for three weeks although at this stage Pyper isn't too sure of the inventory. A further bonus is that it will be the first time she has been overseas.
Pyper was an early starter as a golfer. She went past the Harrington Waters course on the way to pre-school as a five-year-old and decided then she wanted to have a game.
Pyper was hooked virtually from the first time she swung a club.
She now plays in club competition on Saturdays and Sunday and has a coaching session with Harrington Waters professional Jeremy Ward every Tuesday.
Currently her handicap is 33.
She's whittled that from 45. Her goal is to reach single figures although Pyper reasons that it will take few a few years. She's played just about every course in this area and rates her home course at Harrington Waters as her favourite.
