The launch of the 2014-15 Tourism Partnership Program will include a 12-month calendar of events and upcoming campaigns for tourism partners.
"There has been a lot of foundation work done in tourism, and I'm excited to present some new directions for the next twelve months," Donna Hudson, council's team leader tourism and public relations said. "Manning Valley Tourisim will continue to focus on collaborations and establishing strong tourism partnerships."
The importance of tourism to Greater Taree City Council is confirmed in the latest tourism statistics for the Manning Valley, which show a record 699,000 visitors annually, and 280,000 overnight stays. This equates to $167 million a year spent directly in the Manning Valley.
"In addition to the upcoming tourism events and campaigns, we will be outlining our continuous 12-month plan which includes marketing, branding and promotions, and will be updated regularly," said Donna.
All local businesses interested in tourism are invited to attend the event at 11am on Wednesday, May 14 at the visitor information centre, 21 Manning River Drive in Taree.
RSVPs are essential, book no later than Monday, May 12 to tourism@manningvalley.info, or by calling the Visitor Information Centre on 1800 182 733.
"We are fortunate to have a keen and dedicated tourism board of volunteers who meet monthly. If you are interested in tourism, there are vacancies on the tourism board for community-minded volunteers to represent the Manning Valley community as well as the tourism sector," she concluded.
The Manning Valley Tourism Board is established to provide advice to council and facilitate the development of tourism in the area. Made up of volunteers, the board meets monthly.
