Ferris called on a number of players from Taree's YD1 (under 17s and 18s) to fill-in in reserves as the Wildcats had up to nine players across two grades unavailable. Even though Taree lost 1-0 to Macleay, Ferris was impressed with the performance of the juniors.
"And it probably showed them they are capable of stepping up to seniors,'' Ferris said.
The Wildcats have adequate numbers in the senior grades but Ferris said he will have no hesitation in looking to the YD1s should injuries intervene through the season.
"They play at 9am so they have a bit of a break before reserves if we need them,'' he said.
