Previous family history fairs have proved very popular with locals and visitors to the area and this year's event is sure to draw a huge crowd again.

Running from 10am to 4pm at Club Taree, entry to the event is $5 per adult and children are free.

Speakers include Gail Davis from State Records of NSW at 11am, Ben Mercer from Ancestry.com at 12.30pm and Laurence Turtle from Turtle Consolidated Transcription Agents at 2pm.

Groups attending that will be available to meet with members of the community for questions and further information include State Records of NSW, Turtle Consolidated Transcriptions, Keith Johnson from the newly launched Biographical Database of Australia, Newcastle Family History Society, Port Macquarie Family History Society, Ezitree Family History Software, Ancestry.com, The Fellowship of First Fleeters, Central Coast Family History Society, Meryl Bolin Graphologist, who will analyse grandma's handwriting for you, Mid North Coast Maritime Museum, The Ryerson Index, Nepean Family History Society, Convict Connections Queensland, Tomaree Family History, Nelson's Bay, Latter Day Saints Taree, Kempsey Family History Group, Inside History Magazine, Teapot Genealogy, Maitland and District Genealogical Society and Taree Family History Inc. Unfortunately some groups have had to be turned away, because of room restraints.

All fair entrants will receive a free small course subscription donated by the Institute of Genealogical Studies in the US, and also a 50 per cent discount subscription voucher donated by My Heritage.com also from the US, and a sample bag provided by the Tourist Information Centre in Taree.

Organisers say there has been a great deal of support both for the raffle and for lucky draw prizes from groups such as Ancestry.com, Turtle Transcriptions, My Heritage.com, Institute of Genealogical Studies, Inside History, Find My Past, Murrin Transcriptions, Gould Books and Office Works.

Wendy McKeough OAM will attend as Taree Family History's patron, to sell and sign her book, Taree 'In My Lifetime', a major fundraiser for the group and which has now been produced in DVD format also.

There are many DVDs in this series, including Pulteney Street, Victoria Street, Manning Street, High Street, Taree CBD and Albert Street, Rail in the Manning, Businesses in Taree, the Aquatic Carnival, The Belmore Hall and Entertainment in Taree, Old Bar and the beach areas of the Manning, and ferries and cream boats on the Manning River.
