Businessman Eddie Loftus of Eddie's Fresh Chickens was the first inmate in the lock-up, and yesterday morning raised about $1500 for the youth service.
Next up in the lock-up was Westpac manager Tim Woodhill, who had not long been in the clink at the time the Manning River Times visited the cell.
It was the first time he'd taken part in the annual fundraiser and said he wanted to support the PCYC and a good cause for kids.
Taree PCYC club manager Adrian Lee-Archer was pleased with the response from the public.
Money raised this year is earmarked to fund the resurfacing of the PCYC's basketball court and the hope is to raise between $11,000 and $12,000.
Time 4 Kids continues today (Friday) at Taree Central between 10am and 3pm. You can find the cells at the top of the escalators (at the front of Big W).
There will be another similar fundraiser at Bunnings in Taree between 10am and 2.30pm on Thursday April 24.
