Traffic through Cundletown on Main Street will be diverted using Queen Street and High Street for an extended period of the reconstruction process.
"Preliminary works commencing next week will not require the diversion," said Greater Taree City Council's senior leader for Asset Planning, Phil Miles.
"However, pavement works which are anticipated to commence following the Anzac Day long weekend will require the diversion to operate on a permanent basis. This is to allow construction to progress in a safe and timely manner."
Access will be limited during certain stages of the works for properties on Main Street between Queen Street and Beltana Close bordering the works area.
The contractor will liaise directly with affected residents regarding access to minimise disruption.
