Manning Cricket Association's first grade grand final will be decided while Manning hockey starts and the Group Three Rugby League pre-season winds up.
United and Wingham will vie for honours in the Manning cricket grand final to be played at Chatham Park. This was washed out without a ball being bowled last weekend. United, the minor premiers, will be slight favourites. Play starts at 1pm on Saturday and 10am on Sunday. All minor grades were decided last weekend, with Wingham winning the second and fourth grade premierships and Taree West third grade
There'll also be local interest in the Sydney first grade grand final where former Manning cricketers Nick Larkin and David Miller will line up for Sydney University against Bankstown at Hurstville Oval.
Wingham Sporting Complex will be the venue for the Group Three Rugby League pre-season finals on Sunday. This will be in first grade and under 18s and all eight clubs will be involved. Winners from the opening round will play for the major honours with the losers involved in a plate competition. Games start from 10am.
Taree-Wingham Race Club will conduct a massive nine event meeting from noon at Taree's Bushland Drive track. The meeting will also be a fund raiser for the Can Assist, an organisation that assists cancer sufferers in the local area.
Grand finals of Taree Basketball's popular primary schools competition will be played on Saturday morning at Saxby's Stadium at Taree Recreation Centre. Manning junior and senior hockey also gets underway.
Manning Bowling Association's pennant competitions continue with round six matches to be played.
Harrington Rugby League Club returns to the Hastings League competition for the first time since 1976 on Saturday at Esmond Hogan Field at Harrington. The club was accepted into the league after playing in the Lower North Coast Rugby Union competition in recent years.
Saturday's game against Long Flat kicks off at 2.30.
Old Bar Clams continue preparations for the LNC Rugby season with a trial game against Kempsey Cannonballs at the Trad Complex at Old Bar from 2.30. The Lower North Coast rugby gala day will be at Old Bar on Saturday April 12.
Taree Tennis Centre's summer is winding to a close with nominations now open. The closing date is April 21.
