Chris Collins is pulling out all the stops to impress the show's producers and plans to attend auditions in Brisbane, Newcastle, Sydney and Canberra in an effort to win a spot as a house mate this year.

The 20-year-old auditioned last year and while he got through a number of audition rounds he, unfortunately, missed out.

He's already registered online for 2014 and is preparing for the auditions, which start early April.

If he's fortunate to be selected this year, he wants to use his exposure to put Taree "back on the map".

"Everyone says there nothing here ... but actually there is a fair bit to do here, you've just got to work out what you want to do in life."

He believes he has qualities the Big Brother producers are searching for in a house mate.

"I'm outgoing, I'm loud, I'm gay and I speak my mind.

"I think half of Australia will love me and half won't".

Life hasn't always been easy for Chris.

He moved to Taree from Batemans Bay with his family when he was 10-years-old and after finishing primary school at Manning Gardens headed into what were to be unsettled high school years, at Chatham High, as well as short stints at Taree Christian College and Wingham High School.

Chris finished year 10 through distance education.

Not always a fan of Big Brother, Chris has come to enjoy the show in recent years and when he was 17 had a dream about getting into the Big Brother house when he was 18.

He has also watched his dad, tattooist Michael Collins, (nickname Jellybean) audition each year.

This is the third season of Big Brother for Channel 9 and Chris hopes his age will go in his favour this year.

"It's would be so fun. Hopefully I get in".
