The festival will run from June 14 to 29 and the ambassador will be required to represent the festival at several events as well as publicly representing the festival from time to time over the following two years as a lead up to the 2016 Manning Winter Festival.
Nominees must be 16 years of age or over and agree to being nominated.
The Manning Winter Festival committee will consider nominations for individuals, couples or groups, providing the nominees are residents or former residents of the Greater Taree local government area.
Nominees must have studied in the area or have connections with the Manning Valley in at least one field of creative cultural endeavour.
"The field is wide open to any people who are working to build the cultural capital of our area and beyond" said MWF president George Hoad.
"The term cultural endeavour recognises all visual and performing art forms, including artisans and creative talent and design".
The 2012 Manning Winter Festival ambassador is a former St Clare`s High School student and musician, Michael Bardon.
Michael is currently teaching at the Australian Institute of Music, Newington College and the University of Newcastle Conservatorium, where he is also a research candidate for Master of Philosophy [Music].
"Not only was it a great privilege to be the ambassador, but it was also a wonderful professional development opportunity and valuable promotion of my career," says Michael.
Program director Mave Richardson encourages all Manning Valley residents to think about nominating.
"If you know someone deserving recognition for their efforts, be sure to nominate them by the due date.
All nominations will be acknowledged when announcements are made at the opening events of the 2014 Manning Winter Festival," she said.
Nominations must be in writing and posted to: Ambassador Nomination, Manning Winter Festival, PO Box 336, Taree 2430. Nominations close 29 March.
