WINGHAM and District Pre-school will receive $235,419 and Old Bar Community Pre-school will receive $430,545 as part of a $5.7 million capital works fund to provide more pre-school places in regional NSW.
Myall Lakes MP, Stephen Bromhead said Wingham and District Pre-school would receive money to construct an additional classroom and Old Bar Community Pre-school would receive money to construct an extension to increase teaching, administration, foyer and storage space.
“The fund is part of the government’s initiative to secure a preschool education for all children in the 12 months prior to formal schooling,” Mr Bromhead said.
“The capital works are targeted to areas of regional and rural NSW, where building additional preschool infrastructure will help to ease an undersupply of preschool places.
“In addition to the demonstrated need, submissions were assessed on the value for money and quality of the proposed construction and on the continuing financial viability of the planned addition to services.
“I am confident that the projected 20 new preschool places for Wingham and District Preschool and 16 additional places for Old Bar Community Pre-school will help to alleviate the demand for places in Myall Lakes,” Mr Bromhead said.
