Relay For Life is an overnight festival-like event with live music, food and fun activities.
It is a time to celebrate those who have survived cancer, remember those who have passed away from cancer and fight back against cancer.
The event takes a great deal of organising and each time the wonderful community of the Manning Valley comes on board to help run the 2014 relay.
Cancer Council NSW is looking for enthusiastic people, young and old, to help organise this exciting event. If you are a new resident to the area this is a great way to get to know your community and make new friends.
The Manning Valley Relay For Life is a biennial event.
"There are many exciting roles to be filled," Eliza Voshege, community relations coordinator with Cancer Council NSW, said.
"We need your help with all aspects of the relay and we encourage you to bring some great ideas as to how we can improve the relay for 2014."
As well as going to cancer research projects, monies raised from Relay For Life also go towards various Cancer Council NSW local projects, such as the local transport to treatment program, one off financial assistance of $250 to cancer patients, cancer awareness education programs for local community groups/workplaces and legal and financial planning referral services.
"Relay is fun, it's fulfilling and your participation gives strength to Cancer Council NSW mission to beat cancer. I would encourage you to come and join us, have some fun while assisting a very worthwhile cause," Ms Voshege said.
