There was a good crowd in attendance with many new faces which was good to see.
It was also the children's Christmas party so there were lots of expectant children waiting eagerly for Santa to arrive.
The feature for the day was the final of the Euchre Point Stud Versatility (heats over 314m, final over 392m) and here we saw Our Sonny Joe, owned and trained by Don and Kathleen Andrews from Killingworth, salute the judge in 22.61, 2 lengths ahead of Katie Maree with Western Isle third.
Race 1 was the Local GBOTA Maiden over 314m and this was taken out by the Wall/ Watson/ Croker combination from Lansdowne with Mob Boss ( a new addition to their kennels) in 18.42, 4 lengths ahead of Diablo's Gun with Cundle Surviver in third place.
The Townhead Fruit and Veg Maiden over 392m followed and here we saw Cosmic December trained by Ray McKiernan from Marks Point first past the post in 22.70, 9 lengths over Lola's Chant with Tennesee Sunrise filling third spot.
The Old Bar Tavern Maiden was over 314m and here Leann Masterson from Mulbring was successful with Rainy Day Lover who scored by a head in 18.35. Total Fox and Mister Ellyroo filled the minor places.
The Norco Rural Stakes for 5th grade over 392m saw Takeshi trained at Beechwood by Maureen West salute the judge in 22.72, 5 lengths ahead of Shahrain with Brutal Love a further 1 lengths away third.
Race 5 was the President Plate for 4 and 5 grade over 537m (a regular monthly feature) and Mamzelle Penny, owned and trained by Helen Hanson from Nabiac showed that her win the previous week was no fluke when she crossed the line 2 lengths to the good of Jessie's Chant in 31.50. Cosmic Tina was third.
The Minett and Wright Removals Stakes for 4 and 5 grade over 314m saw the Wall/Watson/Croker combination lead in their second winner for the afternoon when Hectic Lad saluted the judge in 18.16, five lengths ahead of Supreme Stimo with Waikiki Lea third.
Race 8 was the Mid Coast Eggs FFA over 314m and in a closely contested race Bago Steel was in the lead but unfortunately suffered an injury coming round the home turn which allowed Wallamba Mickey (trained by Bob Glover from Nabiac) who was running second to gain the lead to win by 2 lengths in 18.30. Rema's Treasure and Speed Risk filled the minor places.
The Merry Christmas to All Stakes for 4/5 grade over 392m was taken out by Wonder Lady owned and trained by David Ward from Dyer's Crossing in 23.11, by a head over Catch A Crook with Bored To Size finishing in third spot.
The Supporter's Club Stakes for 5th grade over 314m saw Statley Stimo owned and trained by Mick McGuire from Taree first past the post in 18.42, with only a nose separating him from Bad Boy Bond. Birighitti Magic was 3 lengths back in third place.
The Rocket Tools Stakes for 5th grade over 392m made Leann Masterson's day when Ozzie Pub got the nod in an extremely close finish, winning by a head in 23.14 over Backyard Benny with Lil' Miss Harper only another head away in third place.
The last race on the program, the Abernethy Education Centre Stakes for 5th grade over 314m saw Swift Break owned and trained by race caller Robert Brandolini from Macksville give him an early Christmas present when she jumped to the lead and was never headed winning by 8 lengths in 18.30. Cool Orchid and Sawtell Mouse filled the minor places. Swift Break was also the Jackpot dog so Robert collected a few extra dollars. Well done.
Taree has a few weeks' break and resume racing on January 11.
