Council and the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage formed a partnership to engage Royal Haskoning DHV (RHDHV) in September 2013. RHDHV has independently and objectively assessed all available options and recommends staged construction of a rock revetment structure as having the best chance of surviving the conditions at Old Bar for a design life of 50 years.
The council business paper being considered tonight includes recommendations that the design by RHDHV be incorporated in the coastal zone management framework and that subject to that, further community consultation will be undertaken in regard to all of the options contained in the draft coastal zone management plan in order that consideration can be given to a preferred option.
