Wingham
The festive season kicks off at the Wingham Chamber of Commerce Christmas Carnival, beginning at 5pm tomorrow (Thursday) with market stalls, a pipe band, and the all-important 8pm visit by Santa. Bent Street in Wingham between Isabella and Farquhar Streets will be closed from 4pm until 9.30pm. The Wingham Ministers Fraternal will be presenting Wingham Carols in the Park at 6.30pm on Friday, with a sausage sizzle and drinks available.
Hallidays Point
Hallidays Point residents will have their choice of two great events in Wylie Breckenridge Park this Saturday and next Saturday. The Hallidays Point Lions Club will be hosting a Christmas Fair in the park on Saturday December 14, with a monster chocolate wheel, hams, meat trays and seafood trays, a white elephant stall, fun for the kids and a visit from Santa.
Black Head Carols will start at 6.30pm on Saturday, December 21 with the Taree City Band, vocalists and other musicians, in Wylie Breckenridge Park or Hallidays Point Public School in case of wet weather. A special children's program will feature a visit by Santa. A gold coin donation is requested, and please bring a chair or blanket. Barbecue food and battery torch candles will be available for sale.
Old Bar
Carols presented by the Old Bar Lions Club will be safe from inclement weather under the covered outdoor learning area on Saturday from 5pm at the Old Bar Public School, moved from its previous location at Old Bar Park. The carols are scheduled to ring out until the arrival of Santa at 7.30pm. Barbecued food, drinks and ice cream will be on sale.
Taree
The Taree City Band, choirs, and artists will entertain and lead community carols in Fotheringham Park in Taree from 6pm to 9.30pm on Sunday, 15 December 2013. The Gymaroos will be performing in the park, with barbecue, drinks, battery candles, and glow sticks on sale. A special children's program will start at 6pm including a visit by Santa, Mr Hooker Bear and Prime Possum, and fireworks along the Manning River foreshore will top off the evening's festivities.
Christmas shoppers will be heading to the Last Minute Shopping Night from 5pm to 7pm tomorrow to enjoy mulled wine and mince pies whilst selecting gifts at the Manning Regional Art Gallery. Excellent bargains and free gift wrapping make the festive gifts from the gallery some of the most innovative offerings in the Manning Valley. Many of unique gallery Christmas gifts are made by local artists, are not available anywhere else in the region.
Harrington
Local residents from the Northern Manning will head down to the Oxley Reserve in Harrington for Carols by Candlelight, from 6pm to 9pm this Sunday. The event is presented by the Harrington Lions Club in conjunction with the local churches, scouts and NSW Rural Fire Services, with food and drink available for purchase.
