Council and the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage formed a partnership to engage Royal Haskoning DHV (RHDHV) in September 2013.
RHDHV has independently and objectively assessed all available options and recommends staged construction of a rock revetment structure as having the best chance of surviving the conditions at Old Bar for a design life of 50 years.
Council's December business paper includes recommendations that the design by RHDHV be incorporated in the coastal zone management framework.
It is also recommended that further community consultation be undertaken in regard to all of the options contained in the draft coastal zone management plan in order that consideration can be given to a preferred option.
The business paper is available on council's website in the agenda for the December meeting.
However council has advised that the report from RHDHV is not currently available as it is being finalised.
It is anticipated that the RHDHV preliminary design and accompanying report will be made available via council's website mid week.
