This will be on line with recent years.
Free buses will run from Forster, Old Bar, Harrington and Wingham, leaving at 10am and returning at 5pm after the last local race. This will be race club chief executive Brian Leggett's first experience of a Melbourne Cup meeting at Taree. He was appointed earlier this year.
"I've been to plenty of cups were, but never a Melbourne Cup meeting,'' he said.
"It should be interesting.''
Mr Leggett said the Winning Post Function Centre has been fully booked.
"That's 330 people,'' he said.
"We'll also have groups in the Corey Brown Pavilion.''
However, all over areas of the track will be open for spectators. Mr Leggett assured extra security will be in place for the big day.
Feature race on the local program will be the NBN Television/Club Taree Spring Cup. As Times race correspondent Doug Ryan reported on Wednesday, extra space is made available between local races to allow patrons time to bet on the Melbourne Cup.
Doug will preview the local program on our website - www.manningrivertimes.com.au from Monday morning.
