TEAM Honda Racing's Josh Hook from Taree gained his fourth podium finish for Team Honda in the Australian Superbike races at the MotoGP event.
Some bike setting issues in race one for the team hampered their ability to battle for a podium and although their pace was strong. Hook was fifth, his fastest lap a 1:33.744 sec.
Overnight, the team made some changes to the Honda CBR1000RRs and the results spoke for themselves with impressive battles throughout race two as Hook vied for podium positions where he recorded lap times consistently in the 1:32 second bracket.
With just 1.638 seconds between the top four riders across the finish line and only .08 of a second covering second to fourth place, the battle was indeed intense.
Ultimately Hook took his fourth podium for the year with third place and a fastest lap time of 1:32.879 sec.
"The first race of the weekend didn't go that well for me,'' Hook admitted.
"I got off to a slow start and had a few issues with the bike, but I got held up with a slower rider and ended up finishing fifth. For race two we made a few changes to the bike to help it turn, and we made a big step forward.
"Lap times came down a fair bit and I had a good race pace. I left my run a bit too late, but I found myself in a scrap for second in the last lap and ended up finishing third.
