The annual January event was rained out with more than 200ml of rain being recorded that morning.
While it can’t be compared to the Golden Lure at Port Macquarie or the Manning Bream Competition, the Manning River Lions Eel Bash fishing competition is shaping up to be a great day.
This fun event will be conducted at the Bushland Drive Racecourse from 8am to 11.30am on Sunday, April 15 in six divisions, from adult men’s and women’s, open, under 16 and under 12 years, heaviest eel and heaviest bag.
Total prizes are valued at more than $500.
The event will culminate with the weigh-in and presentation with free barbecue at Bushland Tavern at 12.30.
Entry fees are $5 for adults, $3 for juniors and $12 for a family, with entry forms available at Mal’s Toy Shop, Centerpoint Gourmet Meats, Manning River Marine and Bushland Tavern as well as on the day at the racecourse.
With those caught last year returned to the lake, the size and number caught this year may be quite interesting.
Funds raised will be donated to the local chapter of St John Ambulance, who so readily support many public and sporting events in our community, and to Lions charities. For further information, phone 0447 498 414 or 6552 3080.
