THE Manning Community Connect Day will be held at Taree PCYC on Wednesday, October 16, from 10am to 2pm.
It is an annual event connecting community members experiencing disadvantage, homelessness and people at risk of homelessness with much-needed information, basic necessities and practical assistance.
Help is available for accommodation, health, employment and other vital community services, all under the one roof.
Due to the outstanding successes of previous years, Manning community organisations are excited to announce that they are again hosting this special event for people in the local area who are struggling.
The day is an opportunity for people to access services and basic necessities that are often out of reach.
Last year about 700 people attended, with businesses and organisations from around the region providing vital assistance to the homeless and those at risk of homelessness.
Funds raised from the highly successful Sleep Out in August will be used to run the Community Connect Day.
Visitors will have access to food, haircuts, clothing, blankets, toiletries and relevant information from services such as Centrelink, TAFE, Employment Services, schools, job services, support services and health services, including nutrition, immunisations and individual and family health.
Other planned activities including pampering, library services and music demonstrations will also be available.
Organisers hope to provide participants with lunch, healthy snack options and access to cooking demonstrations.
