PORT Macquarie's Phil Trembath will coach the Group Three representative rugby league side next year.
Trembath - cousin of Wauchope captain-coach Rob Trembath - beat a field of three for the position. Former coaches Dave Henry and Ben Sprague also applied. Sprague coached Group Three last season.
This will be Trembath's first senior representative coaching role in Group Three. He guided the Sharks to the elimination semi-final this year in the club's return to Group Three while he was previously assistant coach at Wauchope.
There will be a change to the representative format next year with Group Three meeting Group Two before a North Coast team is announced to play in the tier two Country Championship.
It is expected the winning coach from the group game would be given charge of the North Coast squad.
