GREATER Taree City Council's award-winning Cattai Wetlands will be open seven-days-a-week for the school holidays.
Opening hours will be from 7.30am to 3pm daily for the duration of the school holidays, to allow families to relax and enjoy the spring weather at Cattai Wetlands.
Located just north of Taree at Coopernook, the Cattai Wetlands show off the best of our local flora and fauna, across a series of walking tracks, bridges and boardwalks. The wetlands provide sanctuary for over 170 different species of birds, kangaroos, wallabies and regularly spotted goannas.
Cattai is a prime bird-watching spot in the region, with three walking tracks available including a two kilometre stroll around the wetlands, a ramble through coastal blackbutt forest and a short hike to the look out on Spring Hill, where you can see as far south as Cape Hawke and have a great view of the Three Brother Mountains just to the north.
The council reserve features environmental interpretive signage and toilets are available in the reserve.
Normal hours of 8am to 3pm Friday through Monday over the weekends will resume after school holidays. Guided group tours are available by calling council on 6592 5399 for an appointment.
