TAREE Showground has been getting a makeover over the last couple of weeks, as local Wesley Uniting Employment 'work for the dole' crews work to spruce up the site in the lead up to this year's Taree Show.
Painting, repairing fences, fixing up sheds and beautifying the grounds, the crews have been hard at work, led by their supervisors Mark Wood and Greg Brett.
And the show society couldn't be happier with the results.
"They've done a fantastic job," said Chris Taylor, show society secretary.
"It's a really good initiative and we're very grateful that they were able to help us out."
The show society has very little funds to work with and with most of the workers having been to one of the infamous Taree Shows, they were more than happy to contribute to the preparation effort.
"My dad used to bring us here when we were kids," added crew leader Mark Wood.
"We're all really happy to do our bit for this local icon."
