ROAD and Maritime Services (RMS) and Greater Taree City Council will tonight hold a free workshop for parents and supervisors of learner drivers.
Chris Dimarco, council's road safety officer, said the two-hour Helping Learner Drivers Become Safer Drivers Workshop offers parents and supervisors practical advice on how to provide effective driving practice. The session begins at 6pm at the council chambers.
"The RMS recognises the important role parents and supervisors play in advising and supporting novice drivers, and has developed this course to support and better prepare them," Mr Dimarco said.
The workshops provide practical advice about:
o Understanding the laws that apply to L and P licence holders.
o Completing the learner driver log book.
o Understanding the benefits of supervised on-road driving experience.
o Supervising learner drivers.
"Parents and supervisors who attend the workshop find that it boosted their confidence and helped them to better plan driving sessions to gain the most benefit," Chris said. Bookings for the workshop are still available. Call Chris Dimarco on 6592 5399, or email firstname.lastname@example.org
