Cochrane was sent off in the final on Sunday against Forster-Tuncurry and faced three charges: obscene language; disputes decision and contrary conduct.
The original grading by referee Zac Schembri for all charges was serious. However, Cochrane was successful in having the obscene language charge reduced to low and the disputes decision reduced to moderate. The obscene language charge was dismissed. This left his total penalty points at 189. He received a 50 per cent discount for having a clean record for two seasons and a further reduction for an early plea.Cochrane received a caution but no match suspension and will be free to take his place against the Blues. There was further good news for the Pirates earlier in the week when utility player Steve Sansom declared himself available. Sansom broke a finger on the Friday night before the major semi-final a fortnight ago and wasn't originally expected to play again this year. The Pirates will round off preparation for the match with training tonight (Friday) and again tomorrow.Wauchope have no injury concerns and will field the same side that thrashed Old Bar 52-6 in the major semi. The Blues are unbeaten this season and will be chasing back-to-back premierships in Group Three for the first time. This will be Old Bar's first appearance in a grand final since 2000. The club's last premiership win was in 1999.
